5-star luxury hotel in the centre of Milan
This is Milan's oldest hotel, opened in 1863, and then named the ”Albergo di Milano”. Its has been a sort of 'annex' to La Scala for many years - with some rooms even having adjoining doors to the theatre.
During the most recent important renovation work, carried out between 1990 and 1993, part of the city's great defence wall built in 250 AD by Emperor Maximian was discovered. Today, the carefully restored remains of this wall can be seen on the way down from the Don Carlos restaurant to its wine cellar. The ruins are placed at the centre of the room and are surrounded by very prestigious Italian and international wines.
Inside, the hotel is subtly refined with a captivating atmosphere, the rooms elegantly furnished with period furniture and objects of art relating to its history, parquet flooring and spacious bathrooms in Italian marble. The loving and accurate attention devoted to its decoration over the centuries helps to place it in the top rank of the enchanting modern hotels. Both modern contemporary and antique filled old rooms are on offer to guests.

The Caruso bar, with its pleasant “jardin d'hiver”, offers a cuisine that reinterprets traditional Milanese dishes in a contemporary key. Inside the delightful veranda set in the green environment of the small square, period furniture “cohabit” with contemporary elements creating a timeless atmosphere that recalls the one of the Parisian bistros. At the beginning of 2011, the inside hall of the restaurant was renovated, leaving anyway untouched the internal structure organized on two levels, the big columns with decorated capitals and the two precious Murano chandeliers dating back to the 1920s

Monte Tamaro rises 1,961 metres above the lake and in this beautiful hilly area there are plenty of wonderful trails and hikes. Notably it is the starting point for the Tamaro-Lema hike. This peak is also worth visiting for the contemporary and innovative Santa Maria degli Angeli church designed by Mario Botta and painted by Enzo Cucchi. It sits on the edge of the hillside with amazing views. There is also an adventure park and mountain bike trails. Something for everyone.
