Joia Restaurant, Milan

Michelin-starred vegetarian restaurant

featured in Restaurants Updated

Swiss-born chef, Pietro Leeman, runs this entirely vegetarian restaurant with an Asian twist. This is one of very few totally vegetarian restaurants to receive a Michelin star, and it offers extremely creative dishes made with fresh, local produce, some even grown at the restaurant's garden.

The menu, with heavy Asian influences features creatively-titled dishes such as What I would eat every day (Cicerale chickpea hummus with eggplants babaganush, courgette paté, oven dried tomato, herbs and flowers from their garden), and Be vegetarian, be happy!, which the chef describes as "New thoughts and new light in front of that small lake, with roasted eggplants with miso, snow peas, baked peppers, patè of cosaruciu beans from Cicerale and sage, legumes and thyme sand, pepper and ginger juice".

Their tasting menus range from €85 to €120 and can be combined with wine pairings.

Open for lunch from 12:00 to 14:30 and for dinner from 19:30 to 23:00. Closed on Sundays.
