Antica Trattoria della Pesa Restaurant, Milan

One of the oldest restaurants in Milan serving regional cuisine

featured in Restaurants Updated

A perfect place to sample Lombardy traditional fare, in fine surroundings, particularly the risotto or polenta. It has a well laid out, wood-panelled interior which oozes tradition.

Named "della Pesa" ('of the weight') because it is located on the spot where, in the 19th century, goods that arrived from out of town were weighed for excise duty. Open since 1880, it has continued the ancient Milanese-Lombardy culinary tradition to this day.

Even the decor is authentically Milanese with majolica tiled stove, terrazzo floor and wood panelling. Specialities include risotto al salto, ossobuco with risotto alla Milanese and hot zabaglione.

Open every day except Sunday from 12:30 to 14:30 and from 19:30 to 23:00. Booking is strongly recommended.

Visitor comments

  • "Great traditional Italian food, this is a must-try if you're in Milano. Perfect for families and located in a stellar location, you can walk around and get a delicious gelato afterwards." - Trip Advisor
  • "We were lucky enough to get a reservation (this is a small and very popular place, so reservations are essential) and it was one of the best meals we've ever had in Italy. Everything was wonderful - the food, the ambiance, the service - and typically Milanese." - Trip Advisor
  • "This traditional trattoria is a delight! The ambiance is old-world Italy, the service very attentive and efficient, the menu intrinsically Milanese. I had the tagliatelle with fungi porcini to start with and osso buco for my main... all washed down with a very good super-Tuscan by Gaja... Excellent value for money... this restaurant delivers what it promises." - Trip Advisor
