400 year old, convent-run, flower market on Easter Monday
Set up 400 years ago, this well-known flower market is run by the Sant'Angelo convent according to an old Franciscan tradition.
It is an annual market held in the square of the monastery and surrounding streets on the Monday of the Angelus, after Easter Sunday. Monks display their hand-crafted products, books, food and flowers throughout the day.

Dating back at least to 1500, this maket is one of Milan's oldest traditions still alive. Legend says that in 1511, the Franciscan friars who lived next to the Sant'Angelo convent were assaulted by bandits. Their prayers were answered, and an armed angel came down from the heavens to protect the brothers. This tradition is celebrated with the market.
