Jewellery designer Elisa Pomar's reinterpretations of traditional Ibizan earrings have dazzled fashion designers Dolce&Gabbana who have featured them in all of their runways in the last five years. Their 2017-18 Fall/Winter Haute Couture collection presented last January 27th at La Scala in Milan was no exception.

Elisa Pomar's family has been creating traditional Ibizan jewels since 1850 when her great-grandfather was known around the island as "The King's Jeweller" because he made pieces for king Alfonso XIII's lovers. Elisa is famous for her reinterpretations of ancient local jewels, including rings, earrings and the "emprendada", a collection of gold, silver and coral necklaces, crosses and other ornaments that couples received when they got married and that is now worn with the traditional "payés" dress. She has also researched and recovered lost traditional pieces and like the "clauer", a keychain that Ibizan women used to hang from their skirt.

Fashion designers Dolce&Gabbana have featured at least one of her pieces in all their catwalks for the last five years. This time, at the presentation of their 'I Nuovi Principi' collection in Milan, one of the models wore a pair of golden earrings inspired by the traditional "emprendada".

You can find Elisa Pomar's beautiful designs at her two shops in Ibiza Town marina. You might even see Domenico Dolce or Stefano Gabbana there as they're frequent visitors to the White Isle in the summer and they often pop by Elisa's shop while in Ibiza. International celebrities like Scarlet Johansson, Bianca Balti or Jon Secada have also worn Pomar's jewels
